Anglesey Half Marathon 2015

Published In Road Running

Some members of Prestatyn Running Club had the London Marathon in their sights on Sunday when they turned out in the Anglesey half-marathon.

Four men and three women from the club tackled the undulating course and also had to contend with pretty strong winds. Gareth Roberts led the contingent home in 249th place after a bit of a duel with clubmate Arwel Jones, who had been suffering with toothache all week but needed the outing to help prepare for London.

The placings were: 249 Gareth Roberts 1-41.53, 312 Arwel Jones 1-45.10, 50th lady Helen Ashworth 1-50.00, 154th lady Jo Edwards 1-56.14, 155th lady Sue Rodgers 1-56.20, 589 Roger Wadon 1-59.35, 640 Steve Gleave 2-02.29.

The same day Russ Cheetham ran in the Cheadle 5 and was content with his 61st place in 36.17.

This coming Sunday the club hosts the fourth fixture in the Borders Road Running League, and the race starts and finishes at a new venue at Ffrith Beach. Volunteers are still being sought to fill various roles, and also for the club’s next big event, the British Masters’ Cross-Country Championships at Ruthin School on March 14th.
