Three debutants and two personal bests were recorded by Prestatyn Running Club at the Conwy Parkrun on Saturday.

A total of six members took part, the highest number from the club at any race in the series, and perfect conditions resulted in some good times.

Matty Smith improved his pb, finishing 17th overall in 20.53, with Russ Cheetham coming 22nd in 22.00 in his first outing. Recent recruit Katie Dawson had an excellent run, winning the L35 class in 24.48, coming 46th overall, and then Debbie Richards also bettered her pb. She was 49th in 25.14 and now heads the L55 class at the venue.

he biggest pb for a 5k came from Jo Edwards, who finished just behind Debbie in 57th place with a time of 25.17 and in 83rd place was super-vet Dave Hughes in 27.58. He is also first in his M75 category.

Steve Gleave was the club’s sole representative in the Chirk Castle half-marathon, a new event over a hilly course, and he finished 117th in 1-55.48.

The best wishes of members go to club captain Russ Cheetham who is in hospital after being taken ill on Saturday evening, a few hours after the Parkrun.

Monday 20th the club’s annual handicap race will be held on the Tip Lane circuit and anyone definitely unable to take part is asked to notify club officials so that there is no need to work out handicaps for them

Members are asked to meet at Saints as usual at 6.30pm.
