Prestatyn Running Club teenager Coral McShane had an excellent debut for North Wales on Saturday when she finished fifth in the U20 ladies’ race at the Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships at Llanelwedd. She finished two places ahead of clubmate Abbie Cheetham who had to start without warming up after her sat-nav let her down on the journey. Conditions for the race were appalling after the recent heavy rain.
Benjamin Harrison also impressed on his first outing for the region while the ever-dependable George Nicholls was fourth North Wales counter in the M40 class.
Members will have a chance to work off the excess of Christmas Day with a short run on Boxing Day, to be followed by - it is hoped – an exhilarating dip in the sea. The run starts at 11am from the car-park to the west of the Nova Centre and runners will then go to the Miners’ Arms, for a meal.
On January 11 the club is launching another 10-week programme for beginners similar to that held earlier this year. The sessions will be held every Monday at 6.30pm and the cost of £5 will include a high-vis vest.
