After a fairly quiet holiday period eight members of Prestatyn Running Club returned to competitive action in two different Parkruns at the weekend.
At Barry Island Dean Longley finished second in 17.24, while Matty Smith was the club’s first finisher at Conwy, finishing 15th overall in a pb of 20.36.
For four other members it was their first attempt at the 5k course. Amie Bagnall was 17th and second lady overall in 20.38, and she was followed by Abbie Cheetham (34th in 22.39), Gareth Roberts (35th in 22.49, Jenna Bagnall (45th and 1st 12-14G in 23.35), Russ Cheetham, who is recovering from injury (88th in 26 .46) and Gareth White, who ran with his daughter Evie and was 154th in 33.29.
On January 11 the club will be launching another 10-week series for beginners. The sessions will be held at 6.30pm each Monday at Saints in Meliden and the cost of £5 for the programme includes a high-vis vest.
The club will again be hosting the North Wales Cross-Country Championships at Rhug, Corwen, on January 30th and volunteers are required to be marshals.
