Prestatyn Running Club’s lady captain Ally Reid set a new pb of 24.52 while finishing 62nd overall in the Conwy Parkrun on Saturday. It also placed her first in the L40 class.

The same time exactly was given to Gary Johnson, while Debbie Richards was five places back in 25.08.

Meanwhile Steve Hatfield ran in the Cleethorpes Parkrun, and set a new over-70s’ course record of 24.57.

Julia Evans and her son Graham Williams, who is the club’s latest recruit, travelled to Warrington for the 10k held in conjunction with the English Half-Marathon. It was Graham’s first attempt at the distance and they both finished in 60.37, a pb for Julia.

Julia had also improved her pb to 29.07 in last week’s Conwy Parkrun, coming home 113rd overall and two places behind Graham, who clocked 28.53. Other placings were: 40 Russ Cheetham 23.20, 64 Steve Hatfield 25.02, 66 Debbie Richards 25.17, 87 Gareth White 27.40, who ran with his daughter Evie.

Heat was a problem for competitors in the Cardiff 10k last week, which incorporated an inter-regional match, but it did not prevent Amie Bagnall having another excellent run. She was the first finisher in the North Wales women’s team in 40.17, with Matty Smith 21 seconds behind.

Paul Brandrick had his first race for some time when he competed in the Vyrnwy half-marathon, finishing 363rd in 1-46.04, while super-vet Eddie Naisby, at the age of 88, won his class with a time of 2-42.15.

The same day Tony Devenport won the 8k trail race at the Crein estate, near Llandrillo, in 37.03, and at the same venue Vicky Owens finished 23rd and fifth lady in the 16k race in 1-46.06.
