Another solid all-round team performance in the mud at Bangor on Saturday saw Prestatyn Running Club’s men and women confirm their rising status in the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross-Country League.

Though slightly understrength the men finished second in Division 2 on the day and hold the same position after three races, while the women are now fourth in Division 1 despite coming third at Bangor.

Steve Skates showed further improvement after injury, coming an excellent sixth, while Andrew Bromley also had a fine run in his comeback from illness. The club received a further boost from a rare outing on the country by Tony Devenport.

In the ladies’ race Amie was the club’s first-placed runner in 11th position, and she received superb support from Coral McShane, Helen Ashworth and Ally Reid, who is in exceptional form. Behind them there was some impressive packing, all helping to produce an impressive team result.

In the over-70s’ contest Gareth Hughes showed further improvement, gaining two places on his previous outing to come second, while John Hickman again topped the M75 category.
