The third race in the Borders Road-Running League at Birkenhead Park saw yet another excellent turnout from Prestatyn Running Club, who fielded a total of 34 runners.

There was a sense of deja-vu about the results with Steve Skates and Amie Bagnall once again the club’s first man and woman home, and, as in the previous week’s cross-country, there was some excellent packing by the men and women in the middle of the field.

There were some interesting personal duels within the race, with Andy Bromley, Darrel Davies and Alex Ryder all finishing within four places of each other, while further Back Arwel Jones, Gareth Hughes, Ally Reid and Steve Gleave had a similar tussle.

The only other club member in competitive action at the weekend was Alexandra White, who clocked 32.06 in 135th position in the Conwy Parkrun.

This coming weekend several members of the club will swap their red vests for the green and orange of North Wales as they represent the region in the Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships in Brecon.
