Despite a tricky wind several pbs were claimed by members of Prestatyn Running Club in the latest Conwy Parkrun – among them being Steve Skates who won the event in a new best of 16.51.

He was followed by Callum Dally (23rd, 21.11), 35 Helen Ashworth 22.07 ( 2nd lady overall, pb), 59 Ally Reid 24.07 (1st L40, pb), 137 Julia Evans 28.37 (pb), 138 Sarah Ander son 28.46 (pb), 160 Emma Fairhurst 30.05, 185 Alex White 32.01.

In the tougher Wepre Parkrun Steve Stocker finished seventh overall and 1st M40 in 20.48.

There was a special cause for celebration following Sunday’s 10k trail race in Llangollen as it marked the return to competition for Dafydd Owen following his horrific road accident early last year. His determination and spirit throughout has been remarkable and his comeback will be welcomed by all members.

He found himself involved in a tussle with fellow member Clare Manley and after a sprint finish they crossed the line together. The club placings were: 88 Nigel Bakewell 52.25, 99 Sue Rodgers 53.27, 179 Eleri Jones 58.51, 214 Sandy Roberts, 272 (equal) Clare Manley and Dafydd Owen 65.05, 345 Lynda Rowlands 71.14.

North Wales 5k and 10-mile champion Amie Bagnall took on a new challenge when she competed in her first ever track race, the 3,000-metres at the North Wales championships in Wrexham. She found the experience tough but still finished third overall and first senior, finishing in 10.56.

James Rodgers was the club’s sole representative in last week’s Two Lakes trail half-marathon, a testing course around Llyn Brenig and the Alwen Reservoir. He finished 20th overall in a highly creditable 1-52.17.

Tonight ((Wednesday, 17th)) over 40 members are expected to take part in a social run at Rhewl, near Ruthin, which will be followed by a meal in the village pavilion. As a result there will be no regular club meeting at the Ffrith.
