With the weather forcing the cancellation of Sunday’s Borders League fixture at Tattenhall most of Prestatyn Running Club’s members found themselves with a rare clear weekend.

The Conwy Parkrun was one of the few which survived and Prestatyn’s new second-claim member Steve Forsyth took advantage, winning in a new pb of 17.15.

The weather cleared for Sunday’s Anglesey half-marathon where Nigel Bakewell, making his debut at the distance, finished 293rd in a time of 1:51.

The cross-country season comes to a close next Saturday with the British inter-counties’ championships at Loughborough and four club members who have had an outstanding winter are included in the North Wales team.

Steve Skates took the senior men’s title in the Grand Prix Express North Wales League, Amie Bagnall was North Wales champion and teenagers Jenna Bagnall and Lois Lee had a very impressive first season.

The club’s annual meeting will be held at the Ffrith on March 15 and it is hoped that new and old members will come along to have a say on club issues.
