With just one race left to go the Borders Road-Running League looks set to finish on an unprecedented high note for Prestatyn Running Club.

In the penultimate fixture at Mold on Sunday there was quality and quantity on view, with 34 club members turning out. The men and women produced excellent performances, both topping their divisions, with three men in the first 11 home and Amie Bagnall again the first lady overall.

There were several other highlights, including the return of Gordon Jones who, only a few weeks short of his 60th birthday, was the club’s fifth finisher.

The final race on April 26 should see both the men and women clinching promotion to Division 1 and a record number of members claiming individual awards.

PRC at Mold Border League

Five members improved their pbs in Conwy’s Parkrun on Saturday, with second-claimer Steve Forsyth again finishing second.

The placings were: 2 Steve Forsyth 17.12 (pb), 44 Steve Weedman 22.01 (pb), 75 Evie White 24.03, 112 Martin Gill 26.19 (pb), 117 Roger Harrison-Jones 26.25 (pb), 127 Clair Atterbury 27.00 (pb), 177 Debbie Weedman 29.44, 187 Dave Hughes 30.51, 226 Alex White 34.43.

In last week’s Aber Dash, the second event in the Joe Brown Tuesday Night Series of fell-races James Rogers led a trio of Prestatyn ladies home. He finished 68th overall in 43.39, followed by the ever-improving Clair Atterbury (90th in 50.31), Tracy Colligan (95th in 52.02) and Julie Logan (97th in 52.14).

Julia Evans was the club’s sole representative in the Manchester Marathon, and she finished in 5-13.50. Next Sunday Arwel Jones and Jennifer Owens will be wearing the red vest in the London Marathon.

The club’s annual social and prizegiving is being held this Saturday ((14th)) at St Melyd Golf Club.
