It was a case of Champions young and old this weekend with young Benjamin Harrison taking the U20’s title with 88 year old Eddie Naisby the Vet 85 title at the Flintshire 10k in Mold, a great feet indeed considering the 2 lap course including the tough climb towards Nercws. Benjamin led the team home with a Pb of 42.41 followed by Russ Cheetham, Alan Jones, Jenifer Owens, Haydn Johnson, Jackie Pottle and Bethan Lunn (placings and times not yet available)

The young continued to stamp authority with Coral McShane taking the u23’s title in the accenting Clwydian Fell Race including Moel Llys-y- Coed and Moel Famau. Finishing places and times were Stephen Skates 12th 1.25.37, Helen Ashworth 108th 1.52.45, Wyn Roberts 125th 1.58.57, Coral McShane 122nd 1.56.57, Vici Owens 156th 2.13.02, Craig Mitchley 2.13.02 and Gareth Bailey 166th 2.29.43.

Stephen Stocker travelled over to Delemere Forest for Hell Run Half Marathon finishing 31st in 2.13.28.

Vicky Owens was the club’ sole representative in an unusual event – the night-time trail run in Coed-y-Brenin forest, in which competitors were asked to complete as many of the laps as possible in three hours.

At the end of each lap there was music and floodlighting, making it a party atmosphere.

The event was open to individuals and relay teams, and Vic ran alone, covering seven laps, with a fastest lap of 20m 56s.

In the local Park Runs on Saturday Stephen Skates finished 3rd in 19.28 at Wepre Park with Nigel Bakewell 61st 23:18, Mike Davis 65th 23.24 and Leon McKenna 80th 24.25 at Conwy. Sian Beck completed the Cheltenham Park run in 21.52, her first outing as a LV40 and won the category and got 5th lady.

Next Sunday sees the Abergele 5 Inc the North Wales Champs with Prestatyn expecting to field a strong team.
