The wind which battered North Wales was a key factor in two events involving members of Prestatyn Running Club at the weekend.

Competitors in the Rhyl 10 had the wind to their back on the way out to Prestatyn but they then had a battle against it on the return. Recent recruit James Rogers was the first of the club’s trio home in 78.09, closely followed by Arwel Jones in 79.34.

In the conditions Julie Logan was happy with her time of 92.52, but she faces a greater challenge when, along with colleagues in the Emergency Department at Glan Clwyd Hospital, she attempts the next stage of a fundraising effort – to eat as many cold baked beans as possible.

Andrew Bromley, who is in great form at the moment, finished second in the Ruthin 5k in 17.51 and Benjamin Harrison was sixth in 21.25. Alan Jones ran the 10k at the same venue but his time was not available.

Five members returned to Conwy for the latest parkrun and two of the achieved personal bests. The placings were: 11 Callum Dally 21.04, 29 Leon McKenna 23.25 (pb), 58 Nigel Bakewell 25.58, 127 Danielle Dally 32.25, 174 Claire Atterbury 42.57 (pb).
