The return to more clement weather saw several members of Prestatyn Running Club chalk up personal bests at the weekend.
Andrew Bromley was the first of six members home in the Cheshire 10k near Warrington, finishing 31st in a quality field, in 35.55. Matty Smith took a huge 66 seconds off his previous best. He was 64th overall in 38.25 and was followed by Amie Bagnall (86th, 8th lady in 39.42), Benjamin Harrison (149th in 43.09), Des Davies (156th in 43.36) and S ian Beck (207th, 4th L40 in 44.46).
The previous week Sian won her class and was third lady overall in the Vale of Clwyd 10k in Llandyrnog, with a time of 45.27. Des Davies won the M50 class and was 11th overall in 44.33 and Gabby Waring was 32nd in 54.03.
Teenager Callum Dally led the club’s contingent home in Saturday’s Parkrun at Conwy 24th place overall in a new best of 20.50, and he was followed by Arwel Jones (50th in 23.11), Nigel Bakwell, in his second race after injury (61st in 23.40), Emma Fairhurst (146th in 29.32, pb) and Debbie Weedman (188th in 31.07, pb).
In the build-up to her marathon debut in London next month Ally Reid returned “ home” to Stafford and in the half-marathon clocked an excellent 1-45.45.
This Friday (31st)) the club is staging races at Rhyl’s Marsh Tracks circuit. The 1,000-metre junior races start at 6.30pm and will be followed by two 5k races, one for those who aim to finish under 22 minutes and the second for the 22-minutes+ runners. Entries will be accepted on the night.
