Prestatyn Running Club’s Hickman duo chalked up another family double on Sunday with age-group wins in the Sutton 10k on the Wirral.
Joy won the L50 class in 43.34 and father John the M75 category in 49.29. In the same event Andrew Bromley finished 15th overall in 35.55 and Jim Kimber, whose good form augurs well for the Borders League and cross-country season, was 47th in 39.09.
Sian Beck made the long trek to Portsmouth for the Police Sports 10-mile championship. The fierce wind battered the runners and Sian did well to finish just outside the medals in 76.06.
Despite the mud Steve Stocker took 10 seconds off his pb in the Wepre Parkrun in Connah’s Quay, finishing third overall and first M40 in 20.30.
Callum Dally was once again the club’s first finisher in the Conwy Parkrun, coming 18th in 21.19. He was followed by Arwel Jones (37th in 22.45), Debbie Weedman (123rd in 29.58), Nigel Bakewell (150th in 32.24) and Janice Price (151st in 32.29), who was making her debut.
The club’s final social run of the year will be held on September 27, starting at 6.30pm prompt from the Salisbury Arms, Tremeirchion, and will be followed by a meal. Those wishing to attend are asked to order their meals in advance by notifying Matty Smith.
