It may have been a relatively quiet weekend for local athletes but there were still some impressive performances by members of Prestatyn Running Club.

Pride of place this week goes to the club’s two oldest members. Eddie Naisby has just returned to action after a nasty injury but he joined a large field for the Liverpool 10-mile race just a few days before his 90th birthday and clocked a highly creditable 2-10.

The previous day 80-year-old Roger Harrison-Jones was among five members who took part in the Conwy Parkrun , and he chalked up yet another pb. Placings were: 42 Steve Weedman 22.18, 112 Roger Harrison-Jones 26.32 (pb), 124 Martin Gill 27.01 (pb), 167 Debbie Weedman 30.04, 233 Eva Brewer 35.50 (first timer).

Two members doubled up, completing two races in less than 24 hours. James Rogers was the club’s sole representative in the six-mile Llantysilio f ell-race which involved 2,100 feet of ascent, and he finished in 1-25.16. The following day he finished second overall in the hilly Denbigh 5k

5k results: 2 James Rogers 21.52, 7 Ally Reid 24.08 (1st L40), 16 Steven Brown 27.40.

Denbigh 10k: 6 James Kimber 40.40 (3rd SM), 36 Nigel Bakewell 48.58 (3rd M50) – six minutes off last year’s time – 87 Alan Jones 56.40, 111 Eva Brewer 59.53.
