Prestatyn Running Club’s Andy Bromley completed a fine “double” when he won the second race in the Deestriders’ Off-Road Grand Prix series at Shotton, following up his victory last month.

With 24 runners out the club again made up about 25% of the field, and there were many encouraging signs. The club’s first four finishers were all relative youngsters, but it was also good to see stalwart George Nicholls returning to form and others such as Gary Johnson continuing to progress.

Less than 48 hours later Clair Atterbury won the L40 class and set a new pb of 28.03 in the Wepre Parkrun in Connah’s Quay. Liam Martin was 32nd in 26.33, Clare was 46th and Liz Martin 51st in 29.20, all three setting pbs.

Former club chairman Phil Jones made a comeback to competition several years when he turned out in the Conwy Parkrun. Placings: 23 Steve Weedman 21.55, 26 Nigel Bakewell 22.36, 85 Martin Gill 25.36, 96 Roger Harrison-Jones 28.36 (1st M80), 105 Philip Jones 29.46, 108 Debbie Weedman 29.54, 130 Dave Hughes 31.19.

Three members were among a 200-strong field in the Ruthin 5k, with Arwel Jones coming 44th overall in 23.13. Behind him were Andy Clark (76th in 26.54) and Stuart Quayle (127th in 32.22).

The Let’s Rock 10k in Conwy on Sunday also attracted a sizeable field which included two PRC members. Dafydd Owen won the M65 category in 55.35 and Eleri Jones clocked 59.04.
