Thirteen members of Prestatyn Running Club travelled to Dolgellau on Saturday to combine a competition with a post-race barbecue.
The 5-mile course is a testing but enjoyable one and after taking first and second places last year the club again put up a good show.
Placings: 3 Andrew Bromley 27.25 5 Steve Forsyth (2nd claim) 27.46 (2nd M35), 27 Josh Cerefice 31.10, 30 James Rogers 35.03, 36 Wyn Roberts 37.45, 40 Arwel Jones 38.40 (1st M55), 47 Steven Brown 38.54, 54 Gareth Bailey 41.16, 59 Clare Atterbury 42.08, 69 Mike Davis 44.08 (2nd M70), 85 Julia Evans 49.33, 99 Karen Roberts 58.25, 102 Suzanne Evans 59.10, 103 Julie Evans 62.20.
Two of those who ran on Saturday – James Rogers and Steven Brown – raced again the following day in the Helena Tipping 10k in Wrexham.
In a large, quality field James was 101st in 42.49, and was followed by Steve Weedman (142nd in 45.16), Steven Brown (262nd in 51.24) and Andrew Aitken (336th in 54.57).
Janice Price broke new ground when she travelled to Wrexham for Saturday’s Parkrun in Erddig and despite the heavy rain and tough hill enjoyed the woodland course. She finished 204th in 35.42. At Wepre, Connah’s Quay, Martin Gill came 47th in 27.14.
Last week Steve Skates was involved in a close finish in the Green, Green Grass of Home fell-race on Moel Famau. The race was won by Rob Grantham (Pensby), with Steve just eight seconds behind in 39.31. Joy Hickman, in a rare outing on the fells, was 61st overall in 59.48.
Denbighshire’s first Parkrun will be launched on August 18.
The off-road 5k course in the grounds of Bodelwyddan Castle is expected to prove popular with runners from a wide area and volunteers are being sought to help to establish the weekly event.
It will be the sixth in North Wales, following those in Conwy, Wepre, Erddig, Penrhyn and Newborough.
Organiser Eva Brewer from Prestatyn is also planning to hold a junior parkrun on the prom in Prestatyn every Saturday from September 2.
