There was a smaller contingent than usual from Prestatyn Running Club in Sunday’s Caernarfon 10k, and as a result a smaller haul of trophies and titles.
Unarguably the outstanding performer was the in-form Andy Bromley who tried his best to hang on to leader Gwyn Owen (Eryri) but had to settle for second place in the open race. Because Owen was a late entrant Andy was awarded the North Wales title.
Placings were: 2 Andy Bromley (34.14, 20 James Rogers 41.55, 22 George Nixon 42.29, 26 Canyon Wilson 43.27, 28 Steve Weedman 44.01, 42 Arwel Jones 46.52, 44 Benjamin Harrison 47.06, 77 Ally Reid 50.03, 91 Mike Davis 51.22, 92 Clare Atterbury 51.41, 117 Roger Harrison-Jones 56.45, 122 Cara Jones 58.14, 124 Clare Manley 58.42, 125 Debbie Weedman 58.45, 132 Caroline Jones 62.12, 141 Suzanne Evans 72.38, 143 Julie Evans 76.46.

Amie Bagnall, who won the North Wales title in Caernarfon last year , opted instead to run in the Trafford 10k and was disappointed with her time of 39.16. Matty Smith, on the other hand, beat his 40-minute target by a single second.
Steve Stocker was the club’s first finisher in the Bodelwyddan Castle Parkrun, coming fifth overall and 1st M40 in a new pb of 20.28. Other placings were: 22 Steve Weedman 22.28 (pb), 46 Frances Garnett 26.18, 66 Andy Clark 28.17 (pb), 74 Leon McKenna 29.08, 110 Hannah Garnett 33.05, 113 Nigel Bakewell 33.08.
Janice Price also set a pb of 32.26 in the Ellesmere Port Parkrun, slicing 47 seconds off her previous best.
Club chairman Gareth White led a quartet of members in the Llanrwst Sprint Triathlon. He was placed 39th overall in 1-24, and was closely followed by new recruit Darren Thompson (41st in 1-24.14), Wyn Roberts (58th in 1-28.51) and Nigel Bakewell (72nd in 1-33.23).
Some of the club’s junior members were also in action at the weekend at the inaugural Parkrun on the promenade in Prestatyn. Rose Hayes was 2nd overall in 8.38, with Ffion Armstrong 3rd in 9.05, Lola Galway 6th in 10.50 and Grace Longley 25th in 1702.
Tonight ((Wed)) the club’s handicap race will be held at Marine Lake, and those able to attend are asked to contact Gareth White in advance if possible.
