From Benidorm to Bodelwyddan – that has been the experience for a couple of Prestatyn Running Club members over the past 10 days.

Four of the ladies enjoyed the relative warmth of the Spanish resort for a weekend away which included the local 10k race.

Helen Baxandall, who has been in good form recently, was delighted with her time of 56.30 – it would have been even faster had there been chip timing – and she was followed by Karen Bancroft in 8.10, Julie Evans and Suzanne Evans (both 74.13).

Helen and Julie were then among 17 members who turned out in the Bodelwyddan Castle Parkrun on Saturday, which was won in comfortable style by Steve Skates.

The placings were: 1 Steve Skates 18.28, 4 Rob Alexander 20.30, 14 Jenna Bagnall 23.12, 29Joy Hickman 24.15, 32 Frances Garnett 25.53 (pb), 33 Liam Martin 25.59, 35 Gareth Hughes 26.07, 37 Steve Brown 26.15 (pb), 44 Liz Martin 27.22 (pb), 47 Jayne Penrhyn-Jones 28.28, 51 Helen Baxandall 28.43, 54 Hannah Garnett 29.02 (pb), 55 Jo Hoppes 29.20, 56 Helen Ashworth 29.20 (pb), 61 Helen Alefounder 30.04, 74 Karl Martin 31.42, 110 Julie Evans 37.45 (pb).

Super-vet Phil Jones ran the Wepre Parkrun for the first time, finishing 71st in 34.32, and at Conwy Roger Harrison-Jones was 103rd overall in 28.42.

Meanwhile recent recruit Mike Pearson completed his 100th Parkrun in Heslington, near York, where he was 89th in 23.50.

This Saturday the club will have several members in the North Wales squad at the Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships in Llandrindod Wells, though some of those selected have decided to concentrate instead on Sunday’s Borders League fixture on the Mona racetrack in Anglesey.
