Yet more awards and titles came the way of Prestatyn Running Club members at the weekend – this time much closer to home.

For the first time the Rhyl 10-mile race incorporated the North Wales championships and five of the nine members who turned out won age-group awards.

Not so lucky was Matty Smith, who clocked a pb but, having forgotten to pay his championship entry fee, missed out on the senior men’s title.

The placings were: 9 Dean Longley 59.23 (2nd M35 in open race, 1st in champs), 19 Matty Smith 63.00, 24 Chris Yorke 64.06 (2nd M50 in open, 1st in champs), 46 James Rogers 69.00 (3rd M45 in champs), 75 Sian Beck 72.59 (pb, 2nd L40 in open, 1st in champs), 108 Darren Thompson 76.37 (3rd M50 in champs), 182 Steve Brown 82.31, 254 Mike Davis (1st M70 in champs), 527 Nem James 1-59.45.

Two more of the beginners’ group made their Parkrun debuts at Conwy, taking the total who have run at least once to 16. The outstanding individual performance came from Susan Jones who took two minutes off her pb.

Placings: 21 Steve Weedman 21.40, 54 Martin Gill 24.22, 69 Andy Clark 25.38, 105 Bill Scriven 27.20, 129 Jan Garnett 28.07, 148 Cara Jones 28.59 (pb), 154 Debbie Weedman 29.23, 161 Susan Jones 29.49 (pb), 164 Sandra Bickerstaff 29.56, 246 Julie Evans 34.22, 256 Jackie Buckley 36.18, 257 Jennifer Owens 36.19, 3-2 Jade Butler 47.06, 303 Duncan Longley 47.07.

Bodelwyddan Parkrun: 33 Gareth Roberts 27.02, 66 Gigi Jeavons 33.55.

Next Sunday it’s back to league action with the fifth fixture of the Borders Road-Running League at Birkenhead Park, with the men lying fourth in Division 1 and the ladies hoping to improve on their sixth place.
