Prestatyn Running Club came away from one of the area’s most competitive races with its reputation further enhanced last week.

Fourteen members - fewer than usual – turned out in the Essar Chester Spring 5, which always attracts a quality field, and they not only chalked up at least six pbs but claimed four age-category awards.

Dean Longley had a cracking run, finishing eighth overall and only one second outside his pb, his best time for over four years. The quartet of Dean, Steve Skates, Andy Bromley and Matty Smith should have won the team prize but due to a scoring error it was awarded instead to Vale Royal.

Amie Bagnall was second lady overall and Sian Beck continued her great form by winning the L40 class, both in pbs.

Last week one of the club’s recent recruits Rachel Jackson joined the large field for the Manchester Marathon and in good conditions finished in an excellent 4-30.51.
