Prestatyn Running Club’s Bagnall clan has added another trophy to its cabinet.

Jenna, the “baby” of the family, became Welsh under-20 mountain running champion with a convincing win at Betws-y-Coed. She finished 10 minutes clear of the Irish girl who was second.

Her victory means that she will be in the Welsh team for the home international to be held over the same course in September.

Once again there was a huge turnout from the club for the third race in Deestriders’ Off-Road Grand Prix Series at Shotton, and with only one race left several members are in line for individual age-group awards.

Among the outstanding performances were those of club stalwart George Nicholls, who is back on form, and recent recruit Katherine Holley, who was second over 35 on her debut..

Conditions for the annual Ponderosa fell race on the Horse shoe Pass were pretty much as usual - damp and windy - but the club’s quartet all had good runs. Rob Alexander was 9th in 29.45, Helen Ashworth 49th in 36.21, Jo Hoppes three places and 26 seconds behind her, and Tracy Colligan 90th in 47.17.

Four days later Rob led an 11-strong club contingent home in the Newborough Forest Parkrun on Anglesey.
