Prestatyn Running Club’s supervet Martin Cortvriend extended his fine sequence of results in three events over the past fortnight.

In the hilly Sutton Manor Parkrun near St Helens he finished fifth overall and set a new M65 course record of 22.49.

He followed it up five days later by again winning his category in the competitive Capenhurst 5k near Ellesmere Port and then won again in last weekend’s Brierley Forest, Nottinghamshire, with a time of 21.28.

The club has a good record in the Capenhurst event, and that continued, with four runners in the first 25.

Placings: 9 Dean Longley 16.11 (2nd M35), 10 Steve Forsyth 16.16, 11 Canyon Wilson 16.17, 25 Alex Ryder 16.57, 35 Steve Skates 17.17, 75 Will Williams 18.59, 104 Martin Cortvriend 20.32 (1st M65), 109 James Rogers 21.03, 111 Darren Thompson 21.20,143 Gareth Bailey 24.03, 153 David Freckleton 25.14.

Though the weekly Parkruns resumed in some parts of North Wales on Saturday there was a very low turnout from the Prestatyn club, with only two members competing in Conwy and two in Wepre, Connah’s Quay.

Conwy results:- 61 Sian Beck 23.23, 220 Emma Birchall 33.17. Wepre: 61 Steve Brown 29.28, 133 Julie Evans 43.41.

Meanwhile another over-60 supervet in great form, Gordon Jones, finished 13th overall in the Skipton Parkrun, clocking 19.21, and on Sunday 84-year-old Roger Harrison-Jones won the M80 category in the Birchwood 10k in a time of 66.59
