Local athletes took full advantage of the easing of Covid restrictions as Parkruns were once again held in the area.

A total of 19 members of Prestatyn Running Club turned out, most of them in local events but others travelling a little further afield.

As in most of the events numbers were down in the “home” Parkrun at the Nova but four of the eight PRC members chalked up pbs. Among them was recent recruit Amy Foster, who took 31 seconds off her previous best and finished a superb seventh place overall.

Results:- Nova: 3 Martin Cortvriend 21.26, 7 Amy Foster 22.43 (pb), 9 Martin Gill 24.44 (pb), 11 Helen Ashworth 25.21, 1`5 Melanie Bone 26.07 (pb), 28 Linda Friar 30.42, 29 Emma Birchall 30.55 (pb), 49 Julie Evans 46.36 (Tailwalker).

Conwy: 19 Will Williams 25.40, 76 Ann Clare Jones 25.40, 98 Cara Jones 27.18 (pb), 100 Julia Evans 27.33, 105 Helen Alefounder 28.15. Lytham Hall: 23 Steve Weedman 23.03, 131 Debbie Weedman 31.59. Chester: 81 Gareth Hughes 26.39, 210 Roger Harrison-Jones 33.24. Liverpool: 38 David Ellis 21.19.

Only two Prestatyn members were among the huge field for the annual Essar Four Villages half-marathon in Helsby, which used to attract large numbers from North Wales.

Craig Smith was justifiably very happy with his performance, taking 150 seconds off his previous best. He finished 120th overall in 90.15, with Debbie Jones crossing the line in 2-13.13, for 207th place.

In third place overall and first M40 was Christian Prior (Cardiff), who hails from Prestatyn and was a highly respected bowler for the town’s cricket club. He finished in an impressive 71.30.
