Just a few days before his 70th birthday Prestatyn Running Club’s supervet Martin Cortvriend set a new M65 course record in the Greenfield Valley Parkrun.

Apart from being a prolific racer Martin, who is in the form of his life, is currently in the process of running the Pilgrim’s Trail across North Wales from Holywell to Bardsey Island in various stages.

A total of 15 club members took part in six different Parkruns on Saturday,with Steve Skates claiming victory in the Nova event.

The North Wales cross-country championships, originally scheduled for two weeks ago, will now be held in conjunction with the final League fixture of the season in Wrexham on March 5. Those wishing to re-enter will have to pay on the day.

The penultimate League fixture will be held in Oswestry on February 5, and the individual end-of-season results will therefore be judged on the best three placings out of four, instead of the usual four out of five.
