Prestatyn Running Club’s hopes going into the final fixture of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross-Country League at Oswestry were more than fulfilled when they came away with two team awards and nine individual prizes - the club’s biggest haul ever.

Following the annual Ffrith 5k race on Sunday Prestatyn Running Club can not only lay claim to seven more North Wales champions but also to a huge amount of credit for its organisation.
The race, which incorporated the regional championships, was blessed with good weather though a headwind on the return along the prom slowed runners down.

Prestatyn Running Club’s Amie Bagnall (pictured) enhanced her growing reputation by picking up two more awards in the past week.
After the seventh and final fixture of the Borders Road-Running League at Wrexham she was one of five trophy winners from the club, for whom it was a bitter-sweet experience as the men were relegated from Division 1.

Prestatyn Running Club’s Steve Skates turned in a memorable performance when, out of the 40,000 competitors in Sunday’s London Marathon, he finished a superb 64th.
After a perfectly judged race he crossed the line in 2-30.37, the fastest time ever recorded by a member whilst with the club.

Two of Prestatyn Running Club’s in-form senior men mixed it with the cream of Britain’s runners on Saturday at the British inter-counties’ cross-country championships in Loughborough.

After the previous weekend’s wind it was rain which caused problems for local athletes in various races at the weekend.
Competitors in both the Anglesey half-marathon and Borders League fixture at Helsby had to stride through puddles along the routes but that was still preferable to the headwinds of the week before.

After winning a clutch of awards in the previous week’s Welsh 10K championships members of Prestatyn Running Club followed it up with another collection of trophies and titles in Wrexham on Sunday.
The Village Bakery Half-marathon, which attracted a field of over 1,500, incorporated the North Wales regional championships.

The weather was bitterly cold for competitors in Sunday’s Nick Beer 10k in Llandudno but there were plenty of heartwarming performances by members of Prestatyn Running Club.
Thirteen women and eight men from the club were among the 700 or so runners taking part, a bigger field than usual as it incorporated the Welsh championship for the first time.
